RESUM
From the nineteenth century the mainstream narrative of music historiography follows a line that can be characterized by three key phrases: new music, important cultural centres, and great composers. Forms of musical practice and creativity which existed outside these parameters in different parts of Europe have not always been incorporated into the mainstream narrative of Medieval and Renaissance music. The musical culture of Central Europe was seen, in general, as peripheral, compared with its development in the so-called central countries (e.g. France, Italy, the Low Countries), lagging behind mainstream culture and often musically unsophisticated. The political situation after 1945 also played a part, negatively influencing the interpretation of late medieval music history of the region with the anachronistic application of modern borders to the historical situation.
This lecture will discuss problems of the musical historiographical approach to the “peripheral“ regions of Europe and to present current research on Central European topics conducted within the completed research project HERA Sound Memories: The Musical Culture of Late-Medieval and Early-Modern Europe (www.soundme.eu) and the ongoing project Old Myths, New Facts: Czech Lands in the Centre of 15th-century Music Developments.

La conferència de la Dra. Hlávková té com a objectiu principal fer-nos reflexionar sobre les “perifèries” musicològiques. El col·loqui posterior contribuirà a situar el contingut de la conferència en el context de la recerca musicològica que es fa a Catalunya amb la intenció d’obrir noves línies de recerca o desenvolupar les ja existents. Amb aquesta activitat donem continuïtat a la conferència de la Dra. Laura Tunbridge (Oxford University), celebrada el passat més de Juny, amb voluntat de promoure nova recerca musicològica/etnomusicològica (en el sentit més ampli) a Catalunya. Tal com ja es va anunciar, la Societat Catalana de Musicologia organitzarà un Congrés que se celebrarà a finals de 2020 o principis de 2021 per presentar la recerca musicològica sobre Catalunya, relacionada amb Catalunya, o de temàtica diversa que es desenvolupa actualment a Catalunya. Aquestes activitats contribuiran a preparar noves recerques i impulsar les ja endegades, tenint com a objectiu el Congrés de la SCMus, on tant els musicòlegs més experimentats com els joves estudiants de musicologia tindran l’oportunitat de participar.
